Cork was the chosen element for the new shoes collection of Profession Bottier, by Ferreira Avelar & Irmão, that was presented last Sunday in the Micam Trade Fair in Milan.
From Santa Maria da Feira, this company is specialized in the production of man shoes and it was one of the 95 Portuguese exhibitors that attended to the largest footwear trade fair of the world.
“Vinho Colection” is the name given to this new collection. The 15 shoes models in cork are the result of a partnership with Sedacor, a brand of the cork company J. Pinto de Sá, that has been dedicated to extend to fashion and decoration the use of this natural and so Portuguese raw-material.
“J Pinto de Sá is one of the largest domestic cork companies and they threw us the challenge of being our partners.
“To produce an entirely shoe in cork is a hard task, that’s why we choose this so Portuguese material to apply in some little details of the shoes, giving them some live.”, explains Ruben Avelar, from Ferreira & Avelar.
Although these models are being formally presented in Micam, Milan, the fact is that several clients, from USA, Japan and The Netherlands, shown interest in the product previously. There’s already orders: “Last week we delivered the first order to The Netherland and to Japan will be sent at the end of the month and we are not including the models created specifically to ‘private label’ clients”, refers Ruben Avelar.
In 2015 Ferreira Avelar had a turnover of 6.2 million euros, of which 70% is outsourcing.
