OLN editor Rosie Davenport wowed guests at the Drinks Retailing Awards t by taking to the stage in a dress made out of cork.

Davenport, who co-hosted the event at The Dorchester hotel in London with comedian Miles Jupp, said she wanted to demonstrate the material’s versatility.

The supple fabric was made from 100% natural cork granules supplied by Amorim, the world’s largest cork producer, which was bonded together, finely shaved and backed onto cotton.

Award-winning designer Kevin Freeman, founder of Renaissance Couture, worked the cork wine stopper into the fashion statement, and he said: “It was a very interesting material to work with. The final result is a high-end, intricate piece which would wow on any red carpet.”

Davenport, who is renowned for wearing flamboyant dresses at the annual award ceremony, added: “Having a dress made out of cork to present this year’s Drinks Retailing Awards was the obvious choice and a real show stopper.

“It was also great to challenge perceptions about an everyday object like the everyday cork closure and transform it into something so much more and a bit off the wall.”
