Confessional in Turin
The “Penitenziera”, a confessional and space of prayer for millions of pilgrims in Turin to see the shroud, a linen cloth that enveloped the body of Christ after his death, is built from cork. It is next to Turin Cathedral. The expanded cork agglomerate was used in three areas: on the roof of the building, the side wooden structure, and outside where the ventilated façade is. The façade is lined with MD Fachada cork, a fact that highlights the eco-sustainable philosophy underlying the project.
