McNamara with cork surf board

The Hawaiian surfer Garrett McNamara has a cork surf board to tackle the giant waves of Nazaré. The choice of material was not by chance. The cork is Portuguese with proven effectiveness, strength and durability. The Mercedes-Benz Portugal project, in partnership with Corticeira Amorim, sought new technologies, materials and resources to create the best surf board for the waves of Nazaré More flexible and ecological. The secret of its performance is in the cork composite, the only material that is strong and flexible enough to tackle giant waves. The board weighs over 10 kilos, while normal boards weigh between 1 and 2 kilos and easily break in large waves.
