Portuguese associate cork stoppers to top quality wines

The master’s degree thesis “Wine closures: An exploratory study of the attitudes and preferences of the Portuguese consumer”, by Lídia Maria Santos Moreira, Faculty of Economics of Porto University, concluded that Portuguese consumers prefer cork stoppers since in addition to being considered environmentally friendly it is associated with top quality wines. Those surveyed further say that the cork stopper is the ideal closure for the ageing of wines.
